Educational Goals and Objective


Goal:

The goal of the workshop is to provide a comprehensive approach to the issue of health disparities. To provide the attendee with a broad base of knowledge so that they may address health disparities with a bio-psychosocial approach.

Educational Objectives

After attending the conference, participants should be able to:

  • Learn more about the latest findings on social, behavioral and medical determinants of health;
  • Demonstrate awareness of factors contributing to wide disparities in health among certain populations;
  • Identify the roles of various health professionals in eliminating disparities;
  • Gain a better understanding of resources available for planning, policy development, program interpretation and funding to reduce health disparities.

Target Audience

This workshop should be of interest to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, social workers, students, health educators, community members, civic and governmental leaders. This conference should be of value to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as pre- and post-doctoral fellows.
