Value and Impact
Cephalosporin induced neurotoxicity is a rarely recognized yet important cause of acute onset encephalopathy in the hospital setting. It is important to recognize as it is easily preventable and treatable whereas lack of awareness about this diagnosis can lead to incorrect differential diagnoses and harmful, even life threatening treatment and management. Hence greater awareness is essential for treating physicians and caregivers.
