Abstract

This presentation was given at the AAMC GREAT meeting on October 7, 2024. Postdoc recruitment efforts are increasing at many research-focused institutions and we detail some of the key challenges, successes, best practices, and issues involved in this work by drawing on discussions that have occurred with the Graduate Career Consortium’s “From PhD to Postdoc” Community of Practice (CoP). This group has been meeting regularly since 2023 to explore the question “How do I get a good postdoc?” from the different perspectives of faculty, graduate students, and administrators. As a group of individuals from a range of US non-profit institutions and organizations, we have developed an improved understanding of the landscape of postdoctoral recruitment.
